Egypt is the setting of the PlayStation game, which was released in 2008. Yu-Gi-Oh Trading Card Game players take on the roles of characters from the show.

When Prince Atem sneaks out of the castle to join his pals Jono and Teana at the dueling grounds, the game begins in ancient Egypt While they're there, they get to see a different kind of magical ceremony than the ones they're used to seeing. Immediately following the ceremony, Atem challenges one of the priests, Seto, and defeats him.

Simon Muran, Atem's instructor and counselor, has him put to bed as soon as he gets back to the palace. A guard informs Simon as he leaves the palace that the high priest Heishin has infiltrated the complex using some unusual magic, and Simon proceeds to leave. Heishin is Muran's primary focus at the moment. Using the Millennium Rod to smite Muran, Heishin tells Muran that he has discovered the Dark Power. Upon discovering Atem, Heishin threatens to assassinate the Egyptian monarchy unless the Millennium Puzzle is returned to him. Atem is told to break the puzzle by Muran, who emerges behind Heishen. In order to wait for someone to reconstruct the puzzle, Muran seals himself and Atem inside it.
