Super Mario Land is a side-scrolling platform video game. It was developed by Nintendo and published for the Game Boy handheld console. The game marked the debut of the Mario series for handheld consoles. Developed by Nintendo, it was released in 1998. It was a hit among game console gamers. Super Mario Land 4 follows a similar formula as its predecessors, but this time features a new game mode that is more challenging than previous Mario games.
The story of Super Mario Land isn't entirely clear. The first three games were designed by Shigeru Miyamoto himself. In the case of Super Mario Land, the game's design was not done by Miyamoto. The project was overseen by Gunpei Yokoi, an artist with expertise in graphical and mechanical design. This persona was joined by director Satoru Okada, who had worked on such games as Metroid and Kid Icarus. This combination led to the unique style of Super Mario Land.
