A role-playing video game for the PlayStation, Digimon World 3 is the third installment in the Digimon series. It was developed by BEC and Boom Corp and published by Bandai in Japan as Dejimon World 3: The Door of a New Adventure. First released in North America and Japan in June 2002, followed by Europe and the rest of Europe in November 2002, it is the third entry of the Digimon World series and the first to be distributed outside Japan. MMORPG "Digimon Online" is the setting for the story of Junior, a young man who joins his pals in a game called "Digimon Online" only to be trapped by terrorists and forced to use their Digimon companions to free themselves.
Unlike its predecessors, Digimon World 3 has a new system based on Japanese RPGs like Final Fantasy VII and Legend of Dragoon. There are two main ways to play the game: on the world map and in battle. The playable character and the creatures that make up his team are represented by sprites that the player uses to travel a 3D global map. Battles take place in a turn-based format, with each player commanding a party of up to three monsters that faces off against the opposing party, with the possibility to switch or perform specific acts with the party members.
